Hi AthleticQuickness.com,
Well, I have been lifting weights since I was 25, but I would just lift heavy weight for low reps for strength. I was more worried about how much I could bench than anything else.
But for the last year I have been doing circuit training ( kind of like various versions of the Spartan 300 workout ). I do these workouts 3 days a week. Each workout is about 20 minutes, but it is 20 minutes of hell.
For example I would do 50 pushups, immediately followed by 25 goblet squats holding a 35 lb dumbbell in front of me, immediately followed by as many military presses I can do with 35 lb dumbbells in each hand standing on one leg , then drop and hold a plank position for about 30 seconds, I would rest for a minute, and do it all over again, until 20 minutes are up.
This type of working out dropped my weight from about 210 down to 195 at 6′ 2″. My max bench has dropped ( who cares), but I am much fitter, and leaner.
I have a body fat of 15%, and much better cardio. I also play on 2 hardball teams, one for 45 and older, and one for 35 and older. I also play in a 12 inch softball league. I play outfield on both the hardball teams.
Has Running Potential, Just Wasn’t Elite Level…
What peaked my interest in speed was the fact that I seemed to be one of the fastest players in the 45 and older league, so I was interested in how I would match up against the best 55 year old sprinters in the land.
So I started running down the sidewalk outside. I measured 60 meters, and did a best time of 9.37. I looked online and found that I would have actually beaten a couple of runners in the National Masters 60 meter sprint for 55 year old’s. I thought, if I could get a little faster, it would be cool to go to Boston, and run as long as I could beat a handful of runners.
So, I bought some track shoes, and started investigating ways to get faster online. And of course that is when I came across your program.
Initial Plan Was to Break 9 Seconds in the 60m…
To tell you the truth, my plan was to break 9 seconds by the end of the year. I am completely amazed at what these exercises have done for me. I hit 8.68 seconds which would be the 28th fastest time run this year in my age group.
Now, I am really excited, I want to do the whole speed training program. Who knows how fast I can get. I have to think 8.3 or 8.4 is attainable, and that would put me in some elite company.
The leaders of this division – Bill Collins , and Oscar Peyton are some kinds of freak of nature. These guys go 7.45 to 7.6. I do not have delusions of ever getting to that status, but I could not be happier with where I am right now, and what is possible.
I did make a video of my speed training results, and put it up on YouTube. I have added the link below. If you want anything else, just let me know. I can’t tell you just how happy I am with this program. It is not often that you find something that really does work as claimed. Since I play baseball, I will probably purchase your bat speed program also.
This is something that I would have never thought possible a couple of weeks ago. I also play in a Senior hardball league, so I can’t wait to try your bat speed program.
You can use me as a reference anytime.
Thanks Again
